You can ask me a question just before class provided there is
enough time (we do need to start the class on time; if we
must start class, see the next item:)
See me right after class (if you only have a minute but
have a longer question, this is a good time to set up an appointment)
Ask questions (or make a request for "an example about..") during class -- this is perhaps the most important
way. Please keep in mind that it's your responsibility to ask for more examples, or
another one of this or that type. You're heard it
before, and it's true: "Math is not
a spectator sport!" This class is as good as you make it; you will
reap as much as you invest in it. Please do participate actively;
you will reap the rewards. I'm happy to give extra help to anyone who
seeks out extra help.
Get together with your classmates (in this or other sections;
use the Web Board, a resource I have made available to you, or
the Class
List distributed to you, which has the emails and/or phone
numbers of your classmates. Or talk informally)
These are just some ways you can get direct help. (There is
also yet another way, for emergencies only; my home number is
at www.barzilai.org/ Although I often have about 100 students, if a real
emergency comes up, it is appropriate to call) This doesn't cover all
the ways you can help yourself, like reading the text, using web
links, and meeting regularly outside of class with classmates for
homework/study sessions.
Note:
I may give an un-announced quiz at any time
with closed book and notes, asking what these
ways are.
If I don't do this, you can get one completely free point
on the Final by listing all of these, and handing
in your legal TestNotes showing they are not listed there.
