10 Ways To Get Help in this class:

  1. You can ask me a question just before class provided there is enough time (we do need to start the class on time; if we must start class, see the next item:)

  2. See me right after class (if you only have a minute but have a longer question, this is a good time to set up an appointment)

  3. Ask questions (or make a request for "an example about..") during class -- this is perhaps the most important way. Please keep in mind that it's your responsibility to ask for more examples, or another one of this or that type. You're heard it before, and it's true: "Math is not a spectator sport!" This class is as good as you make it; you will reap as much as you invest in it. Please do participate actively; you will reap the rewards. I'm happy to give extra help to anyone who seeks out extra help.

  4. Make use of scheduled Office Hours

  5. Office Hours are available also "by appointment" (Just speak with me, or email, to set one up)

  6. You can send me an email with a question (please use text only)

  7. You can call me at my office (email is usually fastest, but call if you can't get online)

  8. Make use of the Web-Board to pose a question to your classmates (I check in from time to time, too) temporarily disabled due to spam attacks.

  9. Make use of the free math tutors in Henson hall, whose hours are extensive.
    See http://faculty.salisbury.edu/~mathcosc/tutor for details

  10. Get together with your classmates (in this or other sections; use the Web Board, a resource I have made available to you, or the Class List distributed to you. Or talk informally. You can even meet in the Math Lounge).
These are just some ways you can get direct help. (There is also yet another way, for emergencies only; my home number is at www.barzilai.org/ Although I often have about 100 students, if a real emergency comes up, it is appropriate to call) This doesn't cover all the ways you can help yourself, like reading the text, using web links, and meeting regularly outside of class with classmates for homework/study sessions.

If there is a weekly review session in your class, this is probably the most important way to get help from me besides during class and office hours: method #11. Bring questions to the Weekly Review Session.

Note:
I may give an un-announced quiz at any time
with closed book and notes, asking what these
ways are; your score will be the number of
correctly identified ways you list

If I don't do this, you can get one completely free point
on the Final by listing all of these, and handing
in your legal TestNotes showing they are not listed there.
