Whether we see you this weekend or not, I'd really like to get some input from everyone, say by email, as well. So speak up. (-: I, for started, wonder if Cliff or Tom have ideas regarding soliciting input from members of other departments, as per IC's recommendation; you've been around for many more years than the rest of us and perhaps there are tips/warnings as well as more generally past experiences or even proceedures for this? The other step would be for us to draft a simple short list of questions to forward to those other departments... I want to be there. Sunday afternoon would work well for me. This Saturday would not. Tom and I have discussed the suggestion of contacts with other departments. If we were altering the syllabus for all the Math 112 sections, such consultation would be important, and the Curriculum Committee would be the right group to do it. For our project, such contacts are both unnecessary and inappropriate, so that's one piece of work we won't need to do. What is needed is an effort to put together enough of a time and topic schedule so that we can see choose projects that use the appropriate math for the time that they're assigned. In that connection, we should be aware that the Dept revised the Math 112 syllabus just last term (hopefully after consulting other departments). The revised syllabus is in use this term for the first time and involves no partial derivatives or calculus of fns of several variables. So that's one topic to cross off our list. Those of us who are teaching 112 right now have the new syllabus. I'll put copies in the mailboxes of the rest of the group. Let's continue to communicate by the 112reform address until we've settled on a meeting time. I like Harel's suggestion of 3p.m. on Sunday. I was wondering if we could meet later on Sunday, like say 8 p.m. (since I will be out of town until late afternoon...), or maybe postpone it until Monday afternoon? I will very much want to attend the meeting, so if we can arrange an alternative to 3 p.m. on this coming Sunday, it will be great! Thanks!
